Became a sister city on

     Chiang Mai Province is a province located in the north of Thailand and neighbored by Myanmar on the north. As the largest administrative division in Thailand, Chiang Mai Province has an area of 23,000 km2 and a population of approximately 1.28 million. An economic centerin northern Thailand, the province has tourism as its pillar sector (accounting for 22.7% of the country’s GNP), followed by industry, commerce and agriculture. To this day Chiang Mai Province retains a lot of priceless cultural relics, many of which are ancient temples symbolic of the time-honored history of northern Thailand. The capital city is Chiang Mai, the second largest city of Thailand and also the center of politics, economy and culture in northern Thailand. The Chiang Mai Airport, one of the country’s five largest airports, is the northern transportation hub open to international flights.
