Bonn, the historical city of Germany, lies on the two sides of the middle reaches of Rhine. It is 21 kilometers south of Cologne, occupying a strategic location which is just between the mountainous area of the upper reaches of Rhine and plant area of the lower reaches of it.

Located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, the Friendship State of Sichuan Province, Bonn is one of the oldest big cities in Germany with a history of 2000 years. It has a population of more than 300,000, covering an area of 140 square kilometers. Bonn was the capital of West Germany from 1949 to 1990 and after the unification of Germany in October, 1990, the congress and government were moved to Berlin. Now in Bonn are still stationed 6 federal departments, including the German Defense Ministry, which makes Bonn the second largest political center of Germany, as well as the prosperous international city of economy, science & technology, and convention & exhibition. Since 1996, The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme, the Climate Change Secretariat of the United Nations (UNFCCC) and the United Nations Information Centre Bonn (UNIC) move into Bonn. The UN Campus was established in the former government area in November, 2006, becoming the office place of 13 UN institutions in Bonn. Besides, some hea
